  3. Dear fellow SYSOP,
  4.  
  5. RBBS-PC is proud to be one the few bulletin programs that releases
  6. source code.  This is the read me file for the ASSEMBLER source code
  7. for RBBS-PC version 17.2A.  It should be a part of RBBS-ASM.ZIP,
  8. containing the following files:
  9.  
  10. *.ASM          Assembler source
  11. *.OBJ          Assembler OBJ files to be linked with compiled
  12.                   Basic code.
  13.  
  14. Note:  the authors of RBBS has all assembler source but in some
  15. cases cannot distribute it publically.   This is true, for example,
  16. of FOSSCOMM, which is a shareware program which has given RBBS-PC
  17. the right to distribute the OBJ but not the source.
  18.  
  19. This file is part of a larger set of files and should not be
  20. distributed alone.

  22. RBBS-PC Version CPC17-2A is distributed via three mandatory and four
  23. optional standard "ZIP" files.   Two sets of merges are available but
  24. not automatically distributed.

  53. Simply uncompress the first three files and follow the instruction in the
  54. RBBS-PC documentation entitled, "Installing RBBS-PC for the First Time."

  56. For those who have never operated an electronic bulletin board before,
  57. we suggest getting Bantam Books' "The Complete Electronic Bulletin Board
  58. Starter Kit" by Charles Bowen and David Peyton (ISBN 0-553-34552-4).
  59. RBBS-PC's documentation is only a "reference" and is not nearly as good
  60. a learning guide for new SYSOP's.  However, the book only covers RBBS-PC
  61. version 15.1C, and therefore does not cover new features.  Version 17.2A
  62. is downward compatible with the system files of 15.1C.
